Paint Pouring with Patti
Patti Johnson prepares a cup full of paint while creating fluid art Tuesday at her home-based studio in Two Harbors.
TWO HARBORS — Patti Johnson had always been a crafty person, but she wasn't sure what she wanted to do once she found herself with an empty nest five years ago. But when looking for comfort while dealing with the pandemic, Johnson found herself watching a paint-pouring video on YouTube.
"It was just mesmerizing. And I watched another one and another one and another," the Two Harbors resident said. "There's just so many different ways to do fluid art, and I thought to myself, 'I've got to try this.'" (click on link for full story)

Two Harbors, MN
My name is Patti Johnson, and I am a mixed media artist specializing in abstract fluid art. I was born and raised in the picturesque town of Two Harbors, MN, located along the stunning North Shore of Lake Superior. Creativity has always felt like second nature to me, but it wasn't until my twenties that I truly discovered my deep passion for creating art. I take great joy in crafting one-of-a-kind, original, and handmade artwork that reflects my unique vision. Various techniques can be employed to achieve each striking and unique piece, ensuring that every work is special in its own right. I draw profound inspiration from the beauty of nature, its vibrant colors, and the peaceful serenity it offers. While no two pieces can ever be perfectly replicated, I can certainly create similar styles using custom colors to suit individual preferences.
My abstract artwork is commonly referred to as fluid art or acrylic paint pouring, and I am truly captivated by the way colors interact and blend together in this expressive art form. Much of my work is inspired by the stunning landscapes surrounding Lake Superior, and I find immense joy in creating representations of agates, geodes, natural rocks, trees, flowers, the water, the waves, their captivating movements, and the myriad colors that they display. A significant aspect of my artistic journey involves helping others bring out their own artistic talents. I teach engaging paint pouring classes in my home art studio full time, and I invite you to reach out if you are in the area and would like more information on attending one of my art classes. Thank you for your interest and support!

What are ACEOs?
ACEOs (Art Cards, Editions and Originals), are miniature collectible works of art that have to measure exactly 2.5”x3.5”. They can be one-of-a-kind original paintings, limited edition prints, or open edition reproductions. ACEOs are affordable and tangible pieces of art that allow collectors to support artists and build collections of miniature masterpieces, which are often signed and dated on the back and shipped in protective sleeves.
ACEOs can be created in any 2-D medium such as watercolor, gouache, pencil, crayons, marker, digital art, photography, acrylic, oil, pencil, collage or mixed media.
Unlike digital art, ACEOs are physical objects that can be framed, displayed or kept in a collection.
ACEOs are sold, traded, and collected by art enthusiasts, offering a way to own affordable, miniature art pieces.
Why They Are So Popular
Affordability, Collectibility, Artist Support, Versatile Display

Blue Pansies
My inspiration for this large bloom technique came from my late mother-in-law, Donna Johnson, whose passion for art and nature left a lasting impression on my life. Her absolute favorite flower was the vibrant blue pansies, which brought joy and beauty into our lives. Our local greenhouse would actually cultivate and grow these stunning flowers just for her, showcasing their significance in her world. Donna was also a wonderfully talented watercolor artist, known for her unique style and vibrant color palette. She had a dedicated art studio in her home, where she created and sold many of her enchanting watercolor paintings. Through her guidance and support, she made a profound difference in my life, serving as both a mentor and an inspiration along my art journey that has now blossomed into a fulfilling career. In the last four years, I have truly enjoyed connecting with others and building meaningful relationships with hundreds of new paint pouring artists who have participated in the classes offered in my art studio. I sincerely hope that I have made a positive difference in other people’s lives by teaching them the beauty and joy of creating art. I am filled with anticipation and excitement as I think about what the next four years will bring to my artistic endeavors and the connections I will continue to foster.
